2024 Report: Uganda Prayer & Praise Report
Students at Masaka School had a good, but challenging year in 2024. We are grateful to have ended well!
The Primary School has a new headmaster on staff, after Head Master Paul moved on after 18 years. HeadMaster Aquinas has proven to be a good choice, building a team of teachers that work well together. The children are thriving.
The Ministry of Education updated curriculum this year. Challenges were created to get new books and meet demands for teaching, as well as taking exams that changed from rote to hands-on learning.
Food prices continue to go up, and drought was hard at the beginning of the year. We are grateful for a company match for our bulk feeding program, allowing us to save around 40% on the cost of food for this next school year. This allowed food to be provided for 200 families in need in the slum areas where we have centers operating.
In the head office and at Masaka School, women’s sewing groups have formed. They teach sewing, while spending time in the community encouraging one another. The head office saw 360 counseling appointments this year, and many, many more on the street and in homes.
Counselor Training classes have begun, lead by Hannah, via zoom and in person at the office.
