June Uganda Prayer & Praise

International Conference Celebration, 2022

Today beginning at noon is the GSM International Day of Prayer. It is a tradition that has gone on for many years. A time where the national and international Samaritans set aside the same 24-hour period for fasting and prayer. At 6am Sunday, those who are able meet in the International Office in Beaverton (7929 SW Cirrus Dr. Bldg 23) for a time of quite reflection and prayer. Areas are set aside for each of the different countries where GSM has a ministry presence. There are prayer requests sent in from each country, and their support teams, to provide an opportunity for all of us to lift these requests together to the Father. The 24 hours ends at noon on Sunday, with communion to break the fast, and a potluck lunch for a time of sitting together in community.

Please join us in prayer - whether you are near or far.  The Uganda Prayer requests are listed below.

Prayers for the leaders around the world, as well as for the International Office.

For peace to reign in every country.  For safety amid natural disasters, displaced people, healing from trauma.

For God to provide brave people, willing to step up and help others around the world in war torn countries and everywhere.

Pray for the 50 year celebration for GSM - for the preparations, the people attending, and safe travels for all who are able to come.  That the Glory of the Lord will be evident in all.

Prayers for the Satellite leaders and Directors of every country.  Each country has their own vision for ministry - for them to be strengthened to continue to lead well and may the Lord provide the right teams to support them and to help carry the burden off their shoulders.

Prayers for the economy in Uganda - it is very bad.  There have been a lot of deaths because of this.

Elections coming in February.  Prayers for peace in the country as they are approaching that time and the possibility of change in the government.

For a heart of compassion in the the people to rise up - there are so many suffering from emotional and spiritual needs, along with community needs such as food and shelter.  More hands and hearts of compassion are always needed for the work.

The mental health issues have increased greatly - prayers for support structures to equip them to help in these areas

Provision for the many centers in Uganda, that the Directors have the means necessary to do the work the Lord has put in front of them in order to help their communities.

For the Lord to build the families to be strong .  Family dysfunction and abuse is everywhere, and we lift our hands to the Lord for His help in training and education to have healthy families.  For reconciliation in family matters.

Prayers for the Lord to direct the youth - prayers for them to develop a profound relationship with God so they will follow the Lord and not fall in to peer pressure.

Prayers for the provision for the Primary 7, Senior 4 & 6 students as they prepare for their mock exams.  Also for restocking of the science lab because of the requirements from the new curriculum.

Prayers for all of the team in Uganda.  The challenges are everywhere - health of the team and deaths of friends and family, the needs that are all around them.  Pray for the Lord to hold them close and provide everything they need, including rest, as they move through their days.  They have been given a big assignment that grows every day, let them be surrounded by love and people to uphold them, even as they are working to uphold all those along the Samaritan road.

Visitors from the U.S. are coming this month - pray for the mission to be a success.

Prayers for the satellite as we work to grow the team to a deeper understanding of the privilege we have been given as we support the workers on the ground.

Pray for the Paine family as they prepare for the fireworks stand in WallaWalla.  Prayers for helpers, safety and their sharing of the story in Uganda.  Let them feel the peace and protection of the Lord while they are there day and night for 4 days.

Prayers for Sam’s Attic = for the growing of this team as the staff ages.  That every person who comes in to the store be welcomed and can hear the story of the GSM children in Uganda.
