Message: “Intimacy – Beyond Strong Friendships” from Rich Miller

Big Idea: We really cannot pretend ignorance or indifference to the reality of the Creator God. In Acts 17, while in Athens, Paul sees the idols to the many gods—there is even an alter “To an Unknown God”—and so he challenges them that the God they do not know is in fact the one true God. He says this: “…we should not think that the divine being is like gold or silver or stone—an image made by human design and skill. In the past God overlooked such ignorance, but now he commands all people everywhere to repent” (v. 29-30). The life, death and resurrection of Christ is why he “commands all people everywhere to repent.” We cannot pretend ignorance or indifference any longer. Yet even as this is true for the 21st Century, God used the children of Israel to convey this same expectation when he gave the 10 Commandments to them through Moses.

Scripture References: Exodus 20:2-3

From Series: "The Law of Perfect Freedom (a sermon series on the Ten Commandments)"

James, the brother of our Lord, urges his readers to "look closely into the perfect law that sets people free." That "perfect law" is, of course, God's Law, also known as the Ten Commandments.
